Apply the law as written

Apply the law as written.
(There should be a question mark on the tittle.)
We have to up hold the law, we must follow the law, the law is there to protect us. (from what? And until what point?)
I'm not a lawyer , but I like to play judge from time to time, so often actually that I even think of the ethics of the position, such as: what's fare? And how to make so?
Also, what's the extent of punishment? And help?
I'll keep questioning these things for a very long time, but there's a conclusion I've already reached using cheap logic.
Men made law's,
Men are imperfect (otherwise there won't be a need for laws)
So the law is imperfect... And we shouldn't up hold it as high as we do
